  • Dunollie Museum, Castle & Grounds Guidebook

This fascinating guide provides a snapshot of the heritage of Dunollie. Looking at the castle ruin, 1745 House, Woodlands and Clan MacDougall to discover how they have evolved over time and how these valuable resources are engaging people in local history today.

    Telling the Castle Story

Dunollie has been a strategic defensive site guarding the North entrance of Oban Bay. It had been the capital of Dalriada, and the ruins of the old ramparts were still in place when the new Clan MacDougall arrived here.

The book follows the past right through to the present, demonstrating how important the conservation of Dunollie Castle is today as a valuable historic resource, and how it can be used to inspire future generations.

Both books have been published by Dunollie Projects Ltd (now known as the MacDougall of Dunollie Preservation Trust.
