Object Of The Week

Over the next few months, we will be showcasing some of the fascinating objects (and their stories) held within our extensive collections.

Do any of these items bring back fond memories?

Week 22: Cartridge Maker

This instrument is a cartridge maker comprising a vice mechanism which could be used to attach it to a work bench and two handle operated chambers for compressing, ejecting and crimping the end of cartridges.

It was made by George W. Hawksley in, we believe, the 19th century.
